Kite Festival

On Saturday, we took the Metro into DC to celebrate our friend Ellie's first birthday at the Smithsonian Kite Festival on the National Mall. The weather was cool but sunny and just windy enough for lots of kite flying. It was a wonderful party, Marcy and Vince! Thank you for letting us be a part of it.

Luke trying to get the kite flying during a wind-free period.
After giving up, we noticed ALL the kites near us were down.
And as soon as the wind picked back up, hundreds of kites filled the air again!

There were so many amazing kites.
This boat kite was one of our favorites flying near us.

Even Isaac flew the kite all by himself for a few minutes.
(Luke had to watch carefully because when Isaac would tire of it, he would just let go!)

Marcy's fabulous kite cupcakes with a cloudy blue sky background -- so creative!

Yummy, too!

As things were winding down, the kids ran wild with the kite...
this is the last photo of Spiderman all in one piece.

What a fun venue for a birthday party! Great pictures! Isaac is amazing, flying a kite at just 23 months!

I loved seeing the new posts. I've missed your updates! The kids look great. Amelia's curls are the cutest thing ever and Isaac is getting to be such a big boy. He looks very distinguished in his coat. I hope all is well.
