Happy birthday to our wonderful, handsome, smart, sweet (most of the time), funny, loving boy. Isaac, we could not love you any more if we tried!!
Two-year-old Isaac is an active boy who loves to ride bikes, run, dance, and do his own versions of yoga and gymnastics. He loves to sing (Happy Birthday is a current favorite, also Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), and he really loves to listen to and make music. During mealtimes at home or at a restaurant, he will spontaneously break into his own little seat dance if the music moves him! He loves being outside, running, jumping, climbing, biking, sliding, picking dandelions and digging in the dirt to find worms.
He nurtures his creative side by drawing on paper, sidewalks and occasionally the floor, table, house or his bike. His non-creative side is nurtured by watching television, especially his very favorite Dora the Explorer (aka "Dora Plora"). He is also a loving boy, giving spontaneous hugs, snuggles and kisses to dolls and people alike, although I have to say this has diminished considerably over the last month or so for everyone except his sister, for whom he has immeasurable love and adoration. :)
In addition to mastering two-year-old cuteness, Isaac has also embraced the independence and terror of "Terrible Twos." He is full of "mines" and "my turn" and "my try" and "no." Second children definitely have it harder, having to share their things, their space and their parents full-time. To add to this, Isaac is also extremely strong-willed. I'm sure this trait will serve him well in the future if he wants to join the debate team or follow in Granddaddy's profession as an attorney, but right now it presents a big challenge to his parents! He is definitely not fooled by distraction, and his ability to tantrum for 30 minutes at a time is impressive, to say the least. And when that boy is angry, everyone has to watch out! At home, he has begun hitting, pushing, and pulling hair when he is angry or just looking for a little excitement. Fortunately, his preschool teachers report he is still a sweet little angel at school. All my friends who have older boys tell me to enjoy that while it lasts! :)
We can't wait to see what the world has in store for you, Isaac, and what you have in store for us over this next year. In the good times and the "time out" times, we feel so lucky to be your parents!

Yay! I love the pictures and the details. What a sweetie. Just wait until he starts flooding the bathroom with his buddies at preschool...
What a treat for me to catch up with all recent posts this morning! Sweet Isaac the two-year-old definitely looks older since I've seen him, and Amelia too, with her pigtails! Love Isaac's "Princess party," so funny. Also, the new background design is great! xoxoxo
I love the part about how second children have it harder.
