The day started with balloons, a new car garage, birthday cards, and pancakes for breakfast!
Then Amelia went off to preschool, and Mommy and Isaac had some time together... playing in the yard, sweeping the front porch, and taking the new grocery cart for a spin (and letting Amelia's doll Sally go for a ride, too).
Then Amelia came home from school and wanted to give Isaac HER present. She had taken a quarter out of her piggy bank and bought two pieces of candy (a lollipop and a sour fruit chew) for Isaac at the Variety Store, decorated her own wrapping paper, and then worked with me to wrap it. She was very excited to give it to Isaac, and Amelia lucked out and got to share in the spoils because Isaac didn't like the sour candy so much.
After naps, Grandma and Granddaddy arrived from North Carolina for a weekend visit! They came bearing a fun singing Tigger card and a VERY popular T-ball set. Amelia and Isaac played baseball all weekend, and Granddaddy discovered that Amelia has a natural knack for hitting the ball!
Grandma and Granddaddy also brought along a delicious strawberry and whipped cream birthday cake for Isaac. He was delighted by the birthday candles and blew them out like a champ!
(This is where Isaac instructs us to put the cake "right there.")
Then a few more gifts: drums (another HUGE hit), a whole bag of gifts from Aunt Libby and Uncle Nelson, and a "Super Isaac" cape and mask.
The rest of the weekend was spent climbing trees with Granddaddy...
... having a wild time at our usual birthday celebration spot, Guapo's...
... and trying out the new Strider Bike from Papa.
Isaac loves his big boy bike but still finds it a bit "tricky" (his word!)
A wonderful birthday weekend for a wonderful birthday boy!
