We're back from the land that created those omnipresent bumper stickers -- the Outer Banks of our fabulous home state of North Carolina. We were lucky to enjoy a second beach week this summer, this time with our friends Danielle, Scott, Max, and Henry and this time without a four-week old infant in tow! Despite Isaac's insistence on waking up to eat multiple times each night and the fact that you never really escape the crazies when you're with two-year-olds, it really felt like a wonderful vacation from our daily lives. The setting was beautiful, the parent-to-kid ratio was 1:1, and parents and kids all enjoyed frozen treats in the evening (I'll let you guess who got margaritas and who got popsicles, or "pop-si-goats," as Max lovingly called them). Luke and I even went out one evening for a romantic dinner, the first time we had been out to eat on our own in about six months!!
The family poolside (with the beautiful Currituck Sound in the background)
The little boys doing some wave jumping with their moms
Amelia preferred pool jumping (she was pretty wary of the ocean this year)
Henry and Isaac relaxing in the hot tub (aka the "hot pool")
Max and Amelia having fun in the "tunnel" of couch cushions
Good friends in their jammies -- Amelia sure will miss Max when he moves! :(
Sunsets over the water, a lovely perk of having a soundside house
